Wander around a charming town
A destination with a rich history, Aix-en-Provence is filled with a unique, timeless charm. Through its steep little streets, busy squares and finely crafted fountains, the town gradually reveals its beauty, starting with the famous Cours Mirabeau. Enjoy a romantic stroll along this shaded avenue that sets the pace for the former capital of Provence.
From the Place d'Albertas to the Mazarin neighbourhood, you can then wander around the heart of the old city. Stop off for a coffee in a pretty square and watch the locals go about their business while you admire the stunning baroque architecture. For a more intimate experience, surprise your other half with a trip to the Caumont Art Centre, based in a former private mansion, or the Pavillon de Vendôme and its tree-lined garden, the perfect setting for a lovers' tryst.

Follow in the footsteps of Cézanne
The area around Aix-en-Provence is the perfect setting for some romantic walks. To get the lay of the land, far away from the hustle and bustle of town, head to the foot of the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. The bridge between the Var and Bouches-du-Rhône, with its sheer slope that reaches up more than 1,000 metres (3,280 feet), was brilliantly recreated by the brushstrokes of Paul Cézanne.
Carry on in the footsteps of the painter, from the Bibémus Quarries to a tour of his workshop at Le Jas de Bouffan. The family farm is packed with everything that inspired the artist. The perfect place to end your romantic getaway in the heart of one of the most beautiful towns in Provence.
